Why Install Windows Vista™
I beta tested Windows Vista™ for Microsoft and my Fujitsu ST4110 was the best of my minium requirement TPCs that I tested with. Vista™ runs normally although it runs slow and the Areo features are not supported by the video card. If your looking for the minimum TPC to install Vista™ on this is the one I would choose. At last check these TPCs were going for under $300.00 US on eBay, less without an OS (Operating System, Windows). The Vista™ Tablet PC enhancements are a big improvement over the Windows XPTE features and are my main reason for the upgrade.......Northern Rebel

General Impression
Works as well or better than Windows XP Tablet PC (Pen) related enhancements - although seemingly minor - make a huge difference for me.
The handwriting recognition is much better in Vista™ than in Windows XP Tablet Edition.

Things that DO NOT Work
- ReadyBoost is not supported on this Tablet PC
- Video display is normal, however Windows Aero (Glass) is not supported by the ST4110 video card
- At this time the WACOM add on Vista™ beta driver is not stable for me. After a while it stops working until the driver is restarted. This is a general statement and not specific to the ST4110. This is NOT the Vista™ installed pen driver, it continues working normally. I am refering to the WACOM enhanced pen driver that many users found useful under Windows XPTE.
- After installing the two new Microsoft services updates this driver is acting more normally. I'm going to be doing some more testing and make sure I have the latest version. More to come

Driver Notes
- It is necessary to be running a BIOS greater than BIOS version 1.10 (Tablet worked normally but the display was very, very dim under Windows XPTE / Vista™). BIOS version 1.14 is known to work normally. The latest BIOS version 1.20 MAY cause excessive fan operation but this is NOT confirmed
- Both Clean Install and Upgrade from Windows XPTE have been tested with equal success. When upgrading from Windows XPTE Microsoft recommends you run the Vista™ Upgrade Advisor prior to installing Vista™. You can find it here...

- A user has reported that after a fresh install rotation did not work. He determined that several entries were needed in the registry. I did not have to modify my settings. If you experience this problem both he and I have our working registry settings in this thread from the TabletPCbuzz, they're each a little different. Remember to backup your registry before you make any changes.

Installing Drivers
Install all recommended Vista Updates first. Download any Fujitsu drivers you need, but do not run them. Right click on the file and go to properties. Click on compatibility tab, check "run this program in compatibility mode", select windows XP (SP2)". Close the properties window. Now the driver can be installed. The following list is the general order the drivers should be installed or updated. Unless noted the default Vista driver works normally.
Microsoft recently released two service updates for Vista not yet available through Windows Update. After using these for a while I have definitely noticed improvements and I recommend them. I see the most improvements on lesser PCs like the ST4110. Even the Wacom add on driver seems to be acting normally (not sure on this yet, but I have hope). You can download them here...

Video Drivers
Try to install the latest Intel Video driver, as of this time (7-2007) it doesn't work. The video driver was the hardest thing to get working correctly during beta testing. As Intel developed drivers for Vista™ some builds worked correctly and some did not. Intel's 82830 Graphics driver, version 6.14.10.3741 works normally and is the most current correctly working driver for the ST4110. If you find a newer / better driver please let us know. 3741 can be found at: http://www.fujitsupc.com/downloads/mobile/ST4110,ST4120,ST4121_VIDEO_INTEL_V6.14.10.3741_XP.EXE

Installed Software
Windows Movie Maker
After installing Windows Vista™, you will get this error message when running Windows Movie Maker: "?Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available." It's because the ST4110's graphic card doesn't support the Shaders 2.0 feature that also needed by Aero interface to work.
To have Windows Movie Maker running with non-supported graphic cards, Microsoft had developed Movie Maker 2.6 for Vista™. Please follow this URL to download it:
Accessories
Fujitsu Docking Station
Everything seems to be working correctly. I have not tested the firewire port, no device.
Fujitsu IR Keyboard and Mouse
