Windows Meeting Space is a tool for collaboration between two or more computers running Windows Vista.

You can also use it to display your Tablet PC screen on another computer.

I use this to mirror my Tablet PC on a desktop machine that is hard-wired to a projector. I do this over a wireless connection so that I can be move around a room with my Tablet PC while doing a presentation while having what I am seeing and doing appear on a projector.

There are a very few conditions that must be met for this to work.

  • Both computers must be running Windows Vista (not Vista Basic)
  • Both computers must be on the same subnet
    • or they my be connected by an ad-hoc wireless connection between them.
    • note - if one computer is connected to a wired LAN and the other is connected to a wireless network, the two computers may not be on the same subnet.

For the following description of the steps I will assume that you have a Tablet PC where you will be doing things you want to display on a projector. That projector is connected to a second PC - the Desktop PC. The objective is to mirror the Tablet PC on the Desktop PC, and have that displayed on the projector.

  1. Start Windows Meeting Space on both computers.
    • hint: Start | type meeting and Windows Meeting Space should be the first item that Vista finds. Press enter.
  2. On the Tablet PC, start a new meeting
  3. On the Desktop PC, join the meeting
  4. On the Tablet PC, share your desktop (or a particular application if that is what you want to do)
  5. On the Desktop PC, go to Full Screen Mode.

Here is how each step looks.

1 When you start Windows Meeting Space - it will look like this on both machines.

2. On the Tablet PC - Start a new meeting. I did these images on my M700, so that is the default name for the meeting. You will have to create a password. You will use that password to access this meeting from the Desktop PC.

Your Tablet PC should now be mirrored on the Desktop PC.
